At Shared Apprenticeships, we employ entry-level construction apprentices from the local community on flexible work placements with contractors in the area and see them through to completion with a local college or training provider. Our apprentices are in L2 Trades and L3/L4 Technical and Management roles, and most are aged 16-21 so we provide HR management, a Mentor for guidance and Early Careers Manager for academic supervision. We are a not-for-profit social enterprise and can help if you want to ‘grow your own’, but don’t have capacity to recruit, employ, find college provision, mentor, and support a young apprentice through to completion. Please get in touch for an informal chat.

Eat That Frog (ETF)
Eat That Frog (ETF) is a local community interest company and our mission is to enable people to unlock or recognise their potential to contribute to the local community whilst overcoming or managing barriers in their life. ETF have been delivering construction sector based work academy placements in partnership with local Jobcentres over the last 6 years. We have worked with local construction employers to look at the gaps in their recruitment and skills needed to work in the sector and identified that one of the barriers to working in the sector was access to the CSCS card needed to work on site. The two week sector based work academy programme offers people the opportunity to gain relevant industry qualifications including the CITB health and safety Test and card (CSCS card needed to work on site).
The programme explores career options and current opportunities in the construction sector and everyone will have the opportunity to interview with an industry employer boosting employability skills. The programme also includes the opportunity to develop onsite practical skills in bricklaying and people are provided with PPE for use on site. Colin who delivers the construction programme has previously worked in construction for 25 years and has also been involved with his own housing development projects.
