Apprenticeships

There are a number of apprenticeship and training organisations operating in Torbay. Including some that offer very quick ready-for-work training and can get young people site-ready with the necessary PPE and CSCE card in a matter weeks.

Build Torbay works with organisations such as South Devon College Eat That Frog, Greenlight, and Skills Support for the Workforce who deliver construction training and can provide contact with employees and trainees to work on Torbay projects.

The South West Apprenticeship Ambassador Network can guide businesses through the process of employing an apprentice and help them get the most out of this recruitment option.

Shared Apprentices are a not-for-profit organisation who act as employers to apprentices so that businesses can choose flexible placements that suits their needs.

There are currently three young Shared Apprentice hopefuls looking for positions in the Torbay area: a 2nd year Plumbing & Domestic Heating Apprentice; an Apprentice Quantity Surveyor and an Apprentice Bricklayer.

For an overview of the roles of these different organisations and to explore which ones could be most useful for a specific requirement, businesses can contact the Build Torbay Skills Coordinator: Helena.davison@tda.uk.net
