Levelling Up Fund

The Project

Torbay has submitted a bid for up to £20m from the Government’s Levelling Up Fund. The application, prepared by TDA on behalf of Torbay Council, focuses on a programme of works that will extend Brixham’s Fish Quay and Market and create a new Electronics and Photonics Production Park.

Torbay is an ambitious place where community leaders, including the two MPs, have begun to tackle deep seated economic challenges increasing the pace of change. Driving up economic prosperity across Torbay is central to local recovery plans.

In southern Torbay there are significant opportunities in fishing, a sector at the heart of Brixham, to increase landing capacity, double the size of the fish market, and create more sustainable jobs; and in electronics and photonics where businesses are growing, a strong identity is forming through the Electronics and Photonics Innovation Centre (EPIC) and the High-Tech Cluster, to drive manufacturing and production creating more high value jobs.

These sectors have high export potential, and this bid uses internationally competitive assets to bring about positive change for the community.
